Carter Albrecht CD Release Party Tonight

Almost two years after his untimely death, Carter Albrecht's CD, Jesus Is Alive... and Living in London, will get a proper release party tonight at Granada. Salim Nourallah, Chris Holt, Sarah Jaffe, and the members of Sorta will be among those who will be breathing life into Carter's songs. Doors will open at 7, and the music should begin at 8. This is certain to be an evening of beautiful music and intense emotion.

By the way, I'm working on a piece for Lakewood Now about the CD release party, and I'll provide the link for it once published. In the meantime, I leave you with a video montage of Carter set to Sparrows' "Rock and Roll Days". Like many of his songs, "Rock and Roll Days" seems to take on an extra special meaning since Carter's passing.

Last night was filled with great performances & lots of camaraderie, but Carter deserves a bigger crowd. Bring me the head of...I don't know. But somebody.

This was indeed a beautiful night of music, though I felt that the attendance for this show was good, especially with it being a Thursday evening. Granted, Carter did deserve a bigger crowd; he deserved to sell out the venue. Still, I was impressed with how many people rallied together to pay tribute to one of Dallas' finest musicians ever.

But speaking of crowds, a few friends of mine brought up a good point: it's a shame that Carter did not get to see this level of enthusiasm about his music DURING his lifetime. Unfortunately, artists (and musicians) get far more attention and respect after their death. Sad, yet true.
