No Lucky Thirteen This Week, But...

I have a really special idea for next week's Lucky Thirteen. You know how Dallas has spawned several acts that have garnered national attention, such as Tripping Daisy, Reverend Horton Heat, Old 97's, and Midlake? Well, next week's playlist will NOT be about such bands.

The metroplex has also gathered several critical darlings, including Sarah Jaffe, Ishi, Matthew and the Arrogant Sea, and Telegraph Canyon for starters. Again, next week's playlist is NOT about these bands.

What about GOBL perennial favorites like Menkena, Luna Matto, Lovie, The Monco Poncho, Iris Leu, Hendrick, and so forth? Not a single one of these acts will be on next week's Lucky Thirteen.

So then what exactly am I looking for? It's quite simple. I am looking for good new music by acts that I have NEVER heard of. One of my favorite things to do as a blogger is to discover unknown acts. So whether you're a new act for have been busting your rear end in the local music scene with little to no recognition, this could be your chance to be heard. Please email me a brief description of your band (or yourself) along with at least one mp3 (more if you like) to ghostofblindlemon@gmail.com. If I like what I hear, you'll be on next week's playlist.

Readers, please repost this article (or a link to it) on Facebook, Twitter, or whatever website you prefer. Tell your friends, neighbors, or even your enemies if you're feeling generous. I want the word to get out about this. It's hard for new acts to get a break, particularly new bands without strong connections to the music scene. This is just my way to try to give some new acts a break, and hopefully breathe some new life into the local music community.
